Interview with a career change mum - Harleen Chadha
Today I interview another coach, Harleen Chada is the lady for you if you want a life coach. Her business 'High-Vibes' coaching is about discovering what brings out high vibrations in you - how would you feel more fulfilled at work, business or in your personal life!
1. What gave you the idea to start up your business?
I was 3 months pregnant and working as a Financial Consultant within the banking industry. I realised I had waited for this baby for so long, I now wanted to do something that not only gave me the flexibility to work around her and enjoy those precious moments and see her grow, but also to do something that I had always been passionate about- empowering women in my community to smash their limiting beliefs and go for their goal! This came up because I noticed a lot of colleagues, existing banking clients, friends and family members trusted me to guide them in the right direction and I genuinely felt the need to use my people’s skills to help others discover their passion and find their voice in the crowd.
2. What did you do to prepare to start up your business?
At 4 months pregnant, I started my research into the best coaching courses to get qualified and I signed up with CTI (Coaches Training Institute) for a 1 year long course. I started speaking to the local mums in my community to get a feel of what’s going on for them in their life, what’s working and what’s not working and what are they committed to change to turn their life around for better. I was already doing my Market Research. I was communicating my services on different social media platforms to other ladies who were looking for support to help them go for their passion, their goals that they have been sitting on for long or are hiding underneath waiting to be unleashed.
3. Which aspects of your business did you need help with? Where did you get that help?
When I qualified as a Coach, I realised I needed a Mentor/Coach for myself to show me the other side of me, to help me with my own limiting beliefs and to get me going to where I wanted to be. I invested in a Life Coach as well as a High-Level Business coach to get support taking my business off the ground. I also hired a website designer to do my website (I am a total non-techy). I hired a professional photographer to portray my brand through my pictures and then I also hired a Virtual Assistant to help me with social media management. And yes, I still have my own coach as I write this.
4. Describe what your business does and who you target it at / your ideal client
I am a ‘Clarity and Success Mindset Coach’ for high-achiever mums who are sitting on the fence of ‘Indecisiveness and Procrastination’ and afraid to take the next step- whether it’s in relationship, health, career or business. I work with these mums to help them identify their core values, their limiting beliefs and help them come up with strategies to lead a much more fulfilling life at home, workplace or business by using my signature ‘Onion-peeling’ process of coaching. I am like a catalyst in your life that empowers you to be the ‘Best- Version’ of who you can really be!
5. What is the most rewarding thing about having your own business?
Flexibility- I can work from home for 3 days a week (and occasional weekends) and fit my work around my little one. I can take her to playdates, swimming lessons, go for a walk in the park, see other mummy’s over coffee and still can carve out time for my work.
Time for self-care- Yes, I am lucky to now have that time to be able to read, go on the courses that I want to do for my growth and development and even treat myself to a facial or a manicure when I feel like.
Freedom- This is one of my core-values and I love to be able to take decisions about who do I want to work with, how do I work and what and how much do I invest in my business and when can I go on holidays :)
6. What has been the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge comes up when my little one is sick and unwell and that means she must be at home (instead of day-care) and that in result leads to client call cancellations and throwing my to-do list off the agenda. BUT, I have learnt to deal with this and instead of feeling sad about it, I am now able to acknowledge that this is my chance to spend more quality time with her, have a slow-down and reflect on what’s working and what’s not. This takes me back to my ‘Why’ of doing my business in the first place- the flexibility of being with her when she needs me and not feeling guilty about having to ask my boss about giving me a day-off to go and get my daughter! And the best thing is that my clients are very supportive of this too as being mummy’s themselves we share this empathy with each other.
7. If you could go back and give yourself some advice what would it be?
To not be afraid to come out in the open, be yourself and do what you want to do! We have been spending our lives living other people’s lives- a typical example of co-dependency. It’s just when I discovered my life purpose, found my own voice and loved myself for who I am, I then began a journey of self- transformation and empowerment for others.
